Baker/Pastry Chefs

We seek Bakers/Pastry Chefs with an all-rounder attitude to join our small team in Pokeno, Waikato. We are a busy food business that sells bakery food, fast food, ice cream, and drinks.

• Open the bakery early in the morning and clean the kitchen equipment and tools before use.
• Weigh and mix ingredients according to recipes and adjust them as needed.
• Knead, roll, and shape dough or pastry for baking, either manually or using a machine
• Bake different bread types.
• Decorate cakes with glazes, icings, buttercream, and edible toppings.
• Prepare custom-made orders based on customers’ preferences.
• Ensure quality and freshness of all products.
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times.
• Manage inventory and order supplies as needed.

Requirements

• Experience as a baker, pastry chef, or similar role (3 years) OR NZQF Level 4 qualification (baking) plus 1 year experience
• Familiarity with professional kitchen equipment, such as mixers, blenders, and dough sheeters
• Knowledge of baking techniques and recipes
• Creativity and attention to detail
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Team spirit and customer service skills
• Flexibility to work in early morning shifts from 4:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Sunday
