About Us:
Kaiteriteri Beach Lodge and The Beached Whale Restaurant and Bar are located in the heart of the bustling Kaiteriteri beach and on the doorstep of the Abel Tasman National Park. Both businesses work homogeneously to cater to the needs of the guests in the Lodge and the Restaurant.

With a small and enthusiastic permanent team of staff working over the winter months, ensuring the businesses are well serviced for the locals and visitors, and over summer, an influx of fixed term staff working to support the teams and manage the huge increase in visitors to the summer hot spot of Kaiteriteri and its locales.

Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operations of our restaurant and lodge. The ideal candidate will oversee the management of the business, ensuring high-quality service, efficient operations, and a positive guest experience.

You will lead a team of dedicated staff while maintaining a strong focus on profitability, customer satisfaction, and adherence to health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversea daily operation of the Lodge, and work alongside restaurant manager to support the day to day running of the restaurant.
  • Manage employee recruitment, onboarding, and training processes and staff schedules, including addressing requests for time off and shift changes.
  • Handle employee relations, addressing any concerns, and maintaining a positive working environment.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, including attendance, payroll, and benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, licensing laws, and other relevant guidelines.
  • Perform bookkeeping functions for the business including, entering all bills, reconcile to supplier statements and pay on time, raise invoices as required and follow up any late payments, bank reconciliations
  • Ensure all guest rooms are well-maintained, clean, and comfortable.
  • Manage bookings, reservations, and ensure efficient check-in/check-out processes.
  • Manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement cost-control measures. Assist in the preparation of reports and financial documentation as needed.
  • Promote the restaurant and lodge through marketing, local events, and social media to drive business.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an Office Manager, HR Manager, or similar role in a hospitality or restaurant environment.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience and proficiency in accounting software (Xero preferable)
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing teams and fostering a positive work culture.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards, health and safety regulations, and licensing laws would be a benefit
