Position Description: Chef de Partie / Pizza Chef
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Chef de Partie or pizza chef with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a kitchen or relevant role to join our well-known brand at Onyx Cambridge, proudly serving the community for over 20 years. Our restaurant is a local favourite and we are looking for the right candidates to help us continue delivering exceptional service.You’ll take pride in delivering high-quality dishes and contributing to a dynamic kitchen team.
This full-time role primarily involves running the pizza station—preparing and cooking pizzas—as well as creating desserts. 30-40 hours per week, with weekly pay ranging from $25–$32 per hour, depending on experience.

Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant kitchen experience
- New Zealand Certificate in Cookery (Level 3)
- Strong communication skills and ability to multi-task
- High standards in cleanliness, food safety, and organisation
You’ll be responsible for setting up and maintaining your station, managing stock, upholding hygiene standards, and delivering consistently excellent food.
Key Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Collaborate effectively with the Owner and/or Head Chef, taking on feedback and driving continuous improvement
- Prepare and execute standout dishes that keep customers returning
- Manage food costs, ordering, stocktakes, and inventory
- Uphold HACCP policies and the Food Safety Plan
- Contribute to menu development with fresh ideas and industry insights
- Enforce kitchen safety and sanitation practices
- Accurately weigh, measure, mix, and prepare ingredients
- Maintain speed and quality under pressure
- Ensure food is of excellent quality and served promptly
- Keep kitchen and storage areas clean, safe, and compliant
- Ensure your prep station is well-stocked and organised
- Monitor food freshness and replenish stock as needed
- Support the kitchen and business in any necessary tasks
- Assist with menu planning, considering budget and seasonal availability
- Mentor and support junior kitchen staff in food preparation
