Automotive Technician – Heavy Diesel

ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are looking for an experienced diesel mechanic to join our busy Linton team. Based in a shared New Zealand Defence Force/Lockheed Martin workshop our team support the NZ Army maintaining an advantage by providing repair, certification and maintenance on operational vehicles and equipment that form part of NZDF’s regional equipment pool, including MAN and Mercedes Trucks.

You will need to have a genuine passion for the trade as in this unique workshop there are numerous Heavy Automotive Engineering apprentices, who continue some of their on the job training within this facility.

ABOUT YOU:
We’re looking for a highly motivated, customer-focused, automotive professional, you will be a team player who can communicate and assist at all levels. You will also have:

 •  An NZQA qualification in Heavy Road Transport
 •  Commitment to doing a quality job safely
 •  A good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
 •  A proactive approach to equipment maintenance
 •  Proven experience working to a high standard with minimal supervision
 •  A positive attitude and friendly manner

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
To be considered for this role you must be able to obtain and maintain a Confidential Government Security Clearance. See minimum criteria below:
 •  NZ citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the past 5 years, OR
 •  A NZ Permanent Resident who has resided in NZ for the past 5 years OR

A citizen of Australia, Canada, UK or the USA who has a current work permit for NZ

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
You will also be required to undergo pre-employment activities including drug screening and vetting by NZ Police.
