Role

We operate in a high trust environment, and require a commissioning focused HVAC Engineer to develop skill their set in the building services industry. The role covers all aspects of commissioning, including:

 •  Pre-commissioning
 •  Air and water distribution system proportional balancing
 •  Flushing of piped services
 •  Leakage testing of ducted services.
 •  NZGBC rated projects.
 •  Preparation of detailed, accurate commissioning reports
 •  Preparation of test and commissioning plans
 •  Preparation of Operating and Maintenance manuals.
 •  Development and implementation of Energy Conservation Measures
 •  Technical commissioning
 •  Functional Performance Testing

Our focus is to provide clients with projects that work, and to do this we need well rounded Engineers. Engineers that are not only technically strong, but who are articulate, team focused and can ‘walk the talk’.

Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm (40 hours+). We have flexibility around hours to a certain extent to allow for things like daycare, ‘school runs’ and alike. As well as being able to work from home for some tasks. But the bulk of our works require attendance on site and working from our offices in Penrose.

Due to project requirements, work will often be required outside these normal hours. But we seek to limit this as we value your time away from work.

Travel throughout New Zealand and Pacific may be required.

Responsibilities include:

 •  Working as an active member of our team to ensure the on-time delivery of fully commissioned projects as per the project’s specific requirements.
 •  Care and proactive management of allocated company resources within the company framework, whether it be testing equipment or vehicles
 •  Managing and tracking over all project progress. This includes management of the commissioning issue logs, Inspection and Test Plans, Commissioning plans, attending commissioning related meetings and production of required project reporting. Including detailed and wholly accurate commissioning reports.
 •  Production and reviewing of O&M manuals.
 •  Production of reporting and documentation required by NZGBC rating tools.
 •  Communicating with clients, and contracts via the appropriate channels in regard to commissioning progress, defects, and general correspondence.
 •  Pre-commissioning of mechanical services
 •  Flushing of piped services to the requirements of BSRIA
 •  Testing, Adjusting and Balancing of HVAC air and water systems in accordance with CIBSE Commissioning Codes using the provided calibrated testing equipment.
 •  Development, deployment, and analysis of data logger arrays.
 •  BMS Functional Performance Testing.
 •  Technical Commissioning
 •  Hot smoke testing. Both the execution of and the reporting/recording of.
 •  System defect investigation and analysis
 •  Help to promote Health and Safety, whilst adhering to our Health and Safety polices and procedures.

To be successful in this role you’ll need the following:

 •  Integrity
 •  Current work visa or New Zealand residency
 •  A full and current NZ driver’s license. Note the ability to drive a manual would be a positive, but not essential. Most of our modern fleet of vehicles are automatic/DSG.
 •  Strong maths. Minimum NCEA L2 Math. Preference is given to Cambridge qualifications.
 •  NZCE, degree or equivalent
 •  NZGBC project experience and/or Green Star Practitioner.
 •  A positive team and client centric attitude. With an informed ‘can do’ approach.
 •  Technically adept, with a firm understanding and practice of HVAC fundamentals.
 •  The desire to develop as an Engineer. Active membership of Engineering NZ would be a positive.
 •  Physically fit for tasks requiring lifting of test equipment and general physicality required of construction sites.
 •  Strong project management and planning skill set.
 •  Ability to read and understand building services document sets. Drawings and specifications.
 •  Proven self and team management skill set.
 •  Excellent written and verbal skills, with the ability to be both clearly understood and to understand.
 •  Able to closely adhere to written procedures.
 •  A high level of Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe PDF experience and expertise.
 •  A developed and practiced AutoCAD skill set would be a positive
