The role
Reporting to the General Manager – Engineering & Operations, you will lead a team of five and be responsible for managing and delivering effective substation design and engineering services. This team provides engineering and technical support to the wider network business to ensure safe and high performance operational outcomes.
You will also support and work on critical projects, including the connection of new load and generation customers.
As the Stations Engineering Manager, your key accountabilities in this role include:
• Lead and oversee engineering, maintenance and technical design services for substation assets
• Provide technical advice on resilience and asset risk management
• Ensure maintenance requirements are optimised for efficiency and performance
• Collaborate with various internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure optimal outcomes for the substation asset fleet
• Develop and adopt new technologies to enhance asset performance
• Embed safety in design
• Undertake engineering investigations and diagnostic analysis to identify and address issues and failures in substation assets.

About you
You will have demonstrated experience in substation design and engineering ideally within the electricity distribution network sector.
You will also have:
• Proficiency in substation primary and secondary system design, engineering and maintenance practices
• Impeccable communication skills, can build relationships and influence people at all levels with empathy and patience
• Strong focus on continuous improvement
• Experience in technical writing and standards development
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent would be ideal
