Sous Chef - Auckland Central

Our Halls of residence in Auckland CBD are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic sous chef to join our established kitchens!

What's in it for you?

As Sous Chef you will report to the Catering Manager and Head Chef and become a valued member of our team, delivering exceptional food the student residents in their "home". We have worked hard on our reputation to deliver great tasting meals to hundreds of students, and we are on the hunt for new senior members of the kitchen.

The positions are 40-45 set rostered hours per week, sociable hours and a large team to learn from.

Duties will include:

 •  Assisting the Head Chef and Catering Manager with the daily management and operation of the kitchen.
 •  Menu planning, budgeting, and production planning
 •  Overseeing junior staff and helping to develop their knowledge, skills and passion.
 •  Managing communication between supervisors, station and line cooks, as well as catering assistants and Kitchen hands.
 •  Working autonomously and assuming the responsibility of the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence

About You:

You might have experience working in hotels, schools, hospitals or other large scale commercial kitchens where timely delivery of a lot of meals is priority.
 •  Proven experience as a chef in a commercial kitchen, with relevant qualifications
 •  Excellent inter-personal communication and people management skills
 •  Able to prioritise and multi-task. Great planning and implementation skills
 •  A sense of humour, empathy and resilience.
 •  Knowledge and adherence of food safety and dietary regulations
 •  Reliable, honest, and confident leader and team player.
