Equine & Lifestyle Veterinary Surgeon

Wellington | www.trademe.co.nz |
Are you passionate about equine veterinary medicine and want to write your own job description?
Vets on Riverbank has a vacancy for an experienced ambulatory equine and lifestyle vet where you would be based between Otaki and Wellington.
You can choose to be largely responsible for the Wellington end of the district with the caseload being approximately 90% equine and 10% lifestyle. This provides an opportunity to work independently, although with a friendly and experienced team of 3 equine/largies vets and 3 technicians only a phone call or quick drive away, you are not completely on your own.
Building close relationships with your clients, most of whom are highly motivated pleasure horse owners, and self-directing how your day-to-day work would look are a plus. However, if you would prefer to work more closely with the amazing team out of Otaki, that can also be accommodated – just let us know your preference!

We offer our clients a wide range of services to a very high standard, including:
 •  lameness workups
 •  pre-purchase examinations
 •  dentistry (with a highly regarded equine dentistry specialist in our team to help)
 •  wound care
 •  AI and embryo transfer
 •  gastroscopy clinics
 •  general equine medicine and surgery

We also have a referral clinic only 1-2 hours north for those more intense cases.

We are motivated to keep our vets keen and are not shy to keep up with the latest in CPD and equipment, including high quality dental equipment, multiple x-ray units including a DR, ultrasounds, a videoscope, as well as a portable endoscope.
We are underway with a purpose-built new clinic to bring all this together in a modern and functional setting.

We can be flexible with working hours and are happy to discuss your preferences from part-time to full-time, so let us know what would work best for you. After hours currently is one weeknight, and one in four weekends, with extra financial remuneration and early finish as a bonus for weekends worked.

Alongside a generous salary (depending on experience), we will also provide you with a vehicle, and a mobile phone. An added bonus - all our staff benefit from generous discounts on all veterinary care and products.
Otaki and the surrounding area are close to the sea, the hills, and the city and with a climate to be envious of, so will accommodate most hobbies and lifestyles choices.
