Miles Construction Ltd (MCL) have been operating since 2006. New Zealand owned we have offices in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch offering Build, Design, Renovation/Extension and Project Management Services nationwide.

The role
The role will initially be part time and then will be full time (40 hours per week) at the peak of the project - 2025. Will be discussed further at the interview.
The Assistant Site Manager contributes to the successful delivery of construction projects by ensuring adherence to H & S standards and is responsible for the efficient and effective management of trades and materials on site including planning and all required documentation.
• Ensure sufficient and correct materials are on site in a timely manner to ensure employees and contractors are productive in output.
• Oversee the work and making sure it runs smoothly and as per the plan.
• Coordinate trades on site and ensure trades communicating with each other where direct crossover works is involved.
• Role will entail SM duties such as QA and Health and Safety tasks, organising deliveries and subcontractors but also helping with tasks around site (example putting up a hazard board, cleaning, running around).
• Evaluate quickest and easiest way to complete a project without sacrificing quality of the work being done.
• Problem solve and create innovative solutions to issues on site or raise to appropriate party when required.
• Embrace the MCL team culture and be an ambassador for this.
• Promote a positive HSWB culture to all staff, customers, suppliers, and contractors working for MCL.
• Engage and support sustainable practices while in the workplace.
About you
• Current knowledge of NZ H & S regulations
• Experience in the NZ construction industry.
• Intermediate level of computer literacy and open to learning new systems
• Commitment to lead by example, foster teamwork and a safe (physical and mental) site to work on.
• Experience working with clients and sub-contractors.
• Ability to run safe sites and crews.
• Knowledge and understanding of the main potential impacts on environment and sustainability.
• Consistent and clear communicator both written and verbal.
• Able to build and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.
• Able to work independently and be a collaborative team player.
• Strong self-management skills and can prioritise and adjust if need be.
• A sense of humour and team spirit, celebrating successes.
• Pro-active, approachable, committed to enabling others to achieve positive outcomes.
• Willingness to champion the MCL brand and build MCL culture.
