The department of Haematology at Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua | MidCentral have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Haematologist, to be based in the beautiful Taranaki region.

About the role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Clinical Haematologist to join an established team of seven Haematologists and four resident medical officers. The position is fulltime permanent and required to participate in a 1 in 8 on call roster.
We are ideally looking for someone who has experience and/or a special interest in Haemato-Oncology.

About our service:

Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua | MidCentral provides Clinical Haematology, Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology services to the districts that cover the communities of the Manawatu, northern Wairarapa, Hawke's Bay, Whanganui and Taranaki.
This is a combined population of 600,000. The service provides inpatient and outpatient haematology care and manages a wide range of haematological conditions including acute leukaemia, lymphoma, autologus stem cell transplantation, plasma exchange, haemostatsis and thrombosis.
Inpatient care is delivered at Palmerston North Hospital. Outpatient clinics are run at Palmerston North, Whanganui, Hawera, New Plymouth and Hawkes Bay. The Department maintains an active clinical research portfolio including clinical trials.
The service is an approved FRACP training center and undertakes active postgraduate teaching at House Officer, Senior House Officer and Registrar level. Multi-disciplinary case meetings (Tumour Boards) are held locally and regionally.

Taranaki has two hospitals - Taranaki Base Hospital in New Plymouth and Hawera Hospital. In addition to the hospitals there is health centres in surrounding towns. The region services a population of around 118,000 people. Construction is currently underway for a state-of-the-art cancer centre; this will transform the way people with cancer in Taranaki receive their treatment.

Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua - MidCentral is a 350-bed hospital in the city of Palmerston North, Manawatu. Palmerston North Hospital is a secondary hospital and offers most medical and surgical specialties with the exception of Cardiothoracic, Plastic and Neurosurgery.
The hospital serves a local population of 180,000 but is the base for a regional head and neck oncology service which has responsibility for a population of 600,000 and draws patients from Whanganui, Taranaki, and Hawke's Bay. Employing over 2500 people, MidCentral offers a supportive work environment that accepts and values all employees.
