About The Role - Te mahi

We are seeking individuals who are passionate about hospitality and have extensive experience in supervising in restaurants. In this role, you will be responsible for managing an efficient and exceptional service experience for our guests. The ideal candidate should have strong leadership skills and the ability to lead by example.

We offer a variety of shifts including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Weekend availability is required.

This is a full-time permanent position (minimum 40 hours per week) based at Sudima Queenstown Five Mile. The hourly rate for this role is $29.66.

Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa
 •  Oversee day-to-day operations of food and beverage shifts
 •  Conduct effective shift briefings to ensure all staff are aware of VIPs, special occasions, daily specials, and upselling opportunities
 •  Create a positive and motivating work environment for colleagues, promoting consistently high standards of service while fostering a fun atmosphere
 •  Supervise cash handling and banking procedures
 •  Prepare daily banking, cash flow reports, and other related financial paperwork
 •  Inform guests about specials and upsell food and beverage options
 •  Ensure timely recording and investigation of any accidents, injuries, or near misses
 •  Have a strong knowledge of the menu to advise on suitable options for various dietary requirements
 •  Prepare a variety of beverages, including barista and alcoholic drinks
 •  Set up, arrange, clear, and clean tables as needed
 •  Deliver excellent guest service at all times
 •  Provide support to guests with accessibility needs or children
 •  Handle and resolve guest complaints efficiently
 •  Work in various areas of food and beverage service, including conferencing
 •  Assist with outlet preparation, including cleaning and maintaining glassware, flatware, and china
 •  Prepare waiter stations, buffet service, service equipment, and materials
 •  Assist with table preparation, set up, and breakdown
 •  Collaborate with the Food and Beverage Manager on menu planning
 •  Organise and manage special functions in consultation with the Conference Coordinator
 •  Procure and price goods according to the budget
 •  Maintain records of stock levels and financial transactions
 •  Ensure dining facilities comply with health regulations and maintain cleanliness and functionality
 •  Select, train, and supervise the restaurant and bar team
 •  Take reservations, greet guests, and assist with order taking

Requirements

A commitment to being a reliable member of the team

Be able to work 5.00am to 10.00pm with a roster that covers seven days a week including weekends and holidays.

NZQF Level 4, or 3 years experience in a relevant role in the Hospitality and Tourism sector will substitute for the qualification.

Ability to work unsupervised, on your own and as part of a team

You will have:

 •  A valid General Manager License (GM License) and a LCQ qualification
 •  Work as part of a team to deliver exceptional service and dining experiences
 •  Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure, willing to go the extra mile to ensure guests have a memorable experience
 •  Outstanding communication and customer service skills with strong attention to detail
 •  Desire to learn and grow within the hospitality industry
 •  Prior experience in bartending and barista skills
 •  Flexibility to work outside normal hours as required (including early morning shifts, late finishes, weekends, and public holidays)
 •  Availability to work on a rotating roster
 •  NZQF Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) OR a minimum of three years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications
