Production Assistant - Machine Operator

We are New Zealand biggest herb grower, growing 20 plus different herb varieties, year-round. Our operation involves growing in different covered and uncovered cropping systems including an APEX glasshouse, poly tunnels and outdoor field crops.
Production Assistants work in production areas including, but limited to, a greenhouse and or growing areas, harvest area, packing area or dispatch.
There is opportunities for machine operation with our production and packing systems as being semi-automated we employ different machines and robots for different production tasks (pot filling / seeding machine, spacing machine, automated harvester, Multivac packing machine, flow wrap machine)
Machine operator strive to for fill the daily production schedule with minimal downtime. They troubleshoot machine issues and work with our Supervisory and maintenance team to get the machines up and running again in a timely manner. They develop effective working relationships with team members, in order to provide excellent service, product quality and to be meet regulatory requirements.

Key skills that can be learnt are:
• Pot filling / Seeding Machine Operator – Running our potting / seeding machine to meet our weekly seeding plan.
• Spacing Machine Operator – Running our spacing robot to space out our seedlings so they can grow to harvest size plants.
• Harvest Machine Operator – Leading a team of 3 – 5 to meet the daily harvest plan using our machine harvester.
• Packing Machine Operator – Leading a team of 4 running our Multivac packing machine to meet the daily production plan.
Job requirements: Physical fitness and the ability to be on your feet all day.
To not be sensitive to the heat or the cold.
For compliance reasons you’ll need to be a non-tobacco smoker.
The ability to work weekends.
You will start at 7.00am each day, with a 5-day work week. You will be required to wear PPE each day, safety boots, high vis vest, face mask and possibly a hair net – all of which will be provided. Our food processing environment means that no jewellery (including watches) or accessories can be worn at work.
Please also note, you need to be a permanent New Zealand resident, New Zealand Citizen or have a current work visa for this position
