OPERATIONS MANAGER
MPF Engineering, Tauranga

The Company: Renowned for their excellence in fabrication, pipefitting, and pressure welding, MPF Engineering specialises in both simple jobs and difficult projects, often focused on design and build, and they set an industry-standard in engineering, mechanical installation, maintenance, and shutdowns, as well as testing for pipelines, vessels, and tanks, manufacturing carbon, metal and stainless steel to food grade ASME Standards, ensuring every project meets code standards and adhering to ISO9001 Quality Assurance systems, ISO45001 for health and safety systems.

MPF Engineering works both directly and indirectly with a variety of clients and partners in the Bay of Plenty, Waikato, and throughout New Zealand, across many different industries including petrochemical, oil, gas, geothermal, power generation, pulp and paper production, chemical processing, food and beverage machinery, manufacturing and process industries.
They provide highly trained staff who comply with applicable permits, regulations, and safety protocols while delivering project excellence.

MPF is a privately owned young and dynamic company currently located at 15th Avenue, Tauranga, and they will be moving to new state-of-the-art, purpose-built premises in Birch Avenue, Judea in July 2024.

About the Role: MPF has grown significantly and we are looking to fill a newly created position for an experienced Operations Manager to direct and coordinate the activities for the different departments, oversee day-to-day operations and staff management, and ensure policies and processes run smoothly to support the delivery and completion of large piping and fabrication projects.

This role is integral to this rapidly expanding business and will alleviate the Managing Directors' workload so he can focus more on business and client development.

They currently operate with 22+ employees, split between site and workshop, and promote a team culture and ‘family business’ atmosphere where Health & Safety is paramount. Reports include Project Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Site Supervisors, Fitters, Welders, Fabricators, Field Engineers, and Contractors who plan and deliver fabrication projects.

About You
 •  Come from a background in industrial engineering, heavy fabrication, manufacturing, or power generation.
 •  Possess relevant Engineering Qualifications.
 •  Experience with ISO9001 and ISO4500 preferred.
 •  Has a wealth of management experience in setting KPI’s, monitoring and reviewing staff performance, maintaining company policies, registers and processes, and quality control, etc.
 •  Ability to think both strategically and operationally.
 •  A ‘people-person’ who isn’t too serious and enjoys a laugh.
 •  A New Zealand Resident with an NZ Driver’s License.
