Key responsibilities:

This position involves duties related to operating a forklift but not limited to:

 •  - Receiving and moving materials in the yard, ensuring handling is kept to a minimum.
 •  Transporting goods to designated areas and sorting different types of scrap metal based on categories, such as ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and separate them into appropriate designated areas or containers.
 •  Maintain an orderly and clean yard by arranging materials, stacking, and storing scrap metal in designated areas to optimize space and facilitate easy access.
 •  Conduct basic maintenance tasks on equipment and tools used in the yard, including cleaning, lubricating, and reporting any malfunctions or damages. .
 •  Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials, weights, and other relevant information to ensure proper documentation and tracking.
 •  Collaborate effectively with other team members, supervisors, and drivers to coordinate tasks, share information, and ensure a smooth workflow.
 •  Follow environmental regulations and guidelines related to scrap metal recycling, including the proper disposal of waste and hazardous materials.
 •  Identify and suggest process improvements, efficiency enhancements, or cost-saving measures to optimize yard operations.
 •  Ensure all health and safety and PPE requirements are met.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

 •  One year relevant experience in forklifting operating, or relevant qualification equivalent to NZ level 2
 •  Forklift license is required
 •  Proficiency in safely operating and maintaining the forklift.
 •  Physically fit with the ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 20kg)
 •  Must be able to pass a drug test and criminal check

Location: The Forklift Operator may be required to work across Marlborough,Canterbury, Otago, Southland, Whangerei, Auckland, Waikato,Manawatū-Whanganui, Wellington

This role will be a permanent and full-time job.

A minimum of 30 hours of work are guaranteed.

Minimum and Maximum houly rate: $29.66-$35
