Livestock Business Coordinator

Hastings | www.trademe.co.nz |
From our base in the beautiful Poukawa Valley, just south of Hastings, Brownrigg Agriculture is a diverse agribusiness, covering livestock, cropping, post-harvest facilities, and produce export. To get it all done, we also operate a tractor and trucking fleet.

Over the past year, our Livestock business has evolved as we look to unlock our scale and provide opportunities for the growth of our people. We are now looking for someone to support our Livestock Business Manager to deliver commercial results and optimise logistics and planning across our livestock platform spanning some 7000ha.

As our new Livestock Business Coordinator, you will have some core tasks to master, including coordinating livestock sales and purchases and being the guardian of our key information databases (including NAIT, finance systems, and Farmax). There is plenty of scope to develop this role to your strengths and interests – farm systems analysis, environmental planning, commercial negotiations – we are a business where you can grow.

You will be an excellent communicator who knows when it is better to make a phone call than send an email. You will have a good head for numbers and Excel will be second nature. You will be curious about technology and how we can integrate it into our farming systems and office functions to streamline activity and make better decisions.

Most likely you will have a background in farming, either having been on the tools yourself or have had exposure through your family. You’ll know a steer from a bull, and a healthy lamb from a crook one.

You will have a sense of humour and enjoy a bit of banter but know how to knuckle down and get work done. You will also have a high level of personal integrity, and your referees will describe you as trustworthy and honest.
If you already know it all – this is not the role for you, we want someone who is learning every day and looking for ways to improve our business and themselves.

To achieve the core role functions, this will be an office-based job, although there will be some opportunity to get out and about – it will depend on what your skillsets are. Note that this is a full-time permanent role.

It is likely you will have an agri-related degree or tertiary qualification – but if you meet the other criteria and are a numbers geek with the ability to build strong business relationships, get in touch to introduce yourself. You will interact with our farm teams, suppliers, livestock agents, and other in-house teams like agronomy, finance, and packhouse.
There will likely be a small component of evening phone work – that is just the nature of farming.

This is a unique role in a unique, family-owned business. You get a chance to help to write your position description, outside of the core duties, that can play to your strengths. In our Livestock team we are building a group of people who love to farm, if that sounds like something you want to be part of, get your application through.

Brownrigg Agriculture is based in the Poukawa Valley, approximately a 20-minute drive from Hastings and Havelock North, and 15 minutes from Waipawa. To find out more about us, check out www.browrnigg.co.na or visit our Facebook profile BrownriggAgRecruitment.

To find out more about the role phone our Livestock Business Manager, Erin Hutchinson, on 0273 630 528.

Applications close 5:00pm Friday 3rd May, but we will be reviewing applications as they arrive and conducting rolling interviews - so don’t delay putting your hat in the ring.

NOTE THAT YOU MUST ALREADY BE IN NEW ZEALAND, AND LEGALLY ABLE TO WORK HERE, TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE.
