ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This role is responsible for ensuring that our two yards run smoothly . The role has three main areas of responsibility; ensuring both yards are maintained, running the Fertiliser dispatch and the Firewood yard.
This position has a variety of duties which include team leading, manual labour, forklift operation, loader operation, preparing fertilizer orders, overseeing the firewood yard, maintenance and dealing with customers in the yard and over the phone.
You will need to be physically fit as this is an active role.
FERT YARD RESPONSIBILITIES
• Preparing fertilizer orders to the standard required by Ballance
• Conducting stock takes of the fertilizer and storage items
• Dealing with truck drivers coming into the Ballance store
• Dealing with inwards and outwards goods
• Assisting drivers with loading and load covering
• Maintenance and cleanliness of the Hopper, loader and forklifts
• Wear the correct PPE for fert preparations
• Utilise the Balance application for dispatching of fert
FIREWOOD YARD
• Planning and organizing the firewood deliveries and overseeing the firewood yard staff which is made up of our truck driver cadets.
• Ensuring the yard is kept in a clean a tidy state
• Ensure pre start checks are being conducted
• Ensure that equipment is locked away
• Ensure that the firewood yard is adhering to H & S rules and procedures
YARD MANAGEMENT
• Overseeing inwards and outwards deliveries form Heagneys Storage and Heagney Bros
• Ensuring both yards are maintained.
• Ensure that trucks are moved to appropriate locations in the yard.
• Sheds are locked prior to departure.
SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
Class two licence is essential.
Class 4 & 5 licence is preferred but not essential.
Forklift and wheels endorsement is essential. Loader and forklift experience is essential.
A first Aid certificate is preferred.
Previous experience operating a chainsaw, chainsaw certification preferred.
Unit standards 31290 and 31293 management and handling of hazardous substances. This course can be completed as part of your induction training.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
The ability to communicate clearly and effectively on the phone and in person to customers.
The ability to listen, follow instructions and provide feedback.
The ability to plan and manage the activities of other staff.
You must be able to set and maintain the standards expected.
Be reliable and honest and get along with other team members.
