Takapoto Estate is 600 acres of terraced farmland set amongst the beautiful shores of Lake Karapiro. It is home to the award winning Takapoto Angus, Takapoto Wine and also the Takapoto Estate Showjumping arenas. We are currently looking to employ a Park maintenance and machine operator to assist with the upkeep expansion of this beautiful pristine property.

Takapoto Estate is 200-ha of terraced farmland set amongst the beautiful shores of Lake Karapiro. It is home to the award-winning Takapoto Angus, Takapoto Wine and the Takapoto Estate Showjumping arenas. This 75-ha parkland garden is set on the banks of Lake Karapiro, south of Cambridge.

We are looking for an experienced Turf Specialist, this role will focus on providing the best sports equestrian surfaces and footings for our national and international riders, guests and spectators as well as maintaining to the highest level our 25 hectares of broad acreage lawns and park maintenance.

This position involves:

 •  Safely operating equipment and accessories as trained and assigned including (but not limited to) Rotary trimax mowers, fly mowers, John Deere out frontmowers, line trimmers, aerifiers, spikers, chain saws and a wide variety of hand tools.
 •  Applying turf protection product through various sprayers.
 •  Looking after machinery before and after use, cleaning machinery after each use, making necessary minor adjustments to equipment.
 •  Perform daily maintenance tasks on the equestrian center on grass and sand surfaces and grounds as well as the maintenance facility as assigned and directed.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

 •  A proactive and reliable individual who can thrive in a team and/or autonomously.
 •  Previous experience in high-end facilities will be advantageous.
 •  Minimum three years greenkeeping experience.
 •  Demonstrated ability to manage turf equipment.

Level 4 sports turf qualification Qualifications and experience needed:

 •  Full, clean driver’s license.
 •  Landscaping and cultivation experience.
 •  Experience with tractors and machinery.
 •  Availability to work weekends.
