Experienced Yearling, mare and foal trainer

Little Avondale in Masterton have an exciting position for an experienced wet mare and foal trainer. Little Avondale is one of the oldest thoroughbred studs in New Zealand, standing two stallions.
This is a physically demanding position and key requirements of the role include:
• Care for all bloodstock on the property
• Assist with maintaining animal health and care of all mares and foals including:
• foaling down approximately 150 mares
• care of both mare and foal pre and post foaling
• Administer any treatments to wet mares and foals when required, IV, IM and oral.
• Breeding and veterinary care of all wet mares and foals
You will have at least 3 years professional experience in working with yearlings, mares and newborn foals or a Level 4 Equine certificate or similar qualification. You will also be experienced in administering animal health practices to all ages of bloodstock.
Pay ranges from $25 to $30 per hour (depending on experience) with a minimum of 40 hours per week guaranteed (normal week 40 hours). Single accommodation is available for out of town employees if required.
