Restaurant Manager/Duty Manager

Comida is a Nelson Café/Restaurant with associated retail shop (Prego Mediterranean Foods).
Our menu is Mediterranean-inspired, with food that is made from quality ingredients, which is well cooked and well presented.
The Restaurant currently operates Thursday & Friday, and is expecting to expand to Tuesday to Saturday. The hours are somewhat flexible, but the incumbent has been working 40 hours per week. We are closed Sundays and public holidays.
We ideally seek a qualified Restaurant Manager with at least three years of relevant experience.
The Duties & Responsibilities include:
• Complete opening & closing processes, including daily financial reconciliation.
• Take reservations, greet guests and take orders.
• Control the flow of orders and availability of staff throughout service.
• Engage with customers to assess their satisfaction with meals and service.
• Ensure dining facilities comply with health regulations & Food Control Plan, and that they are clean, *functional and of suitable appearance.
• Order and maintain stock and supplies as directed.
• Assist with setup, breakdown and cleaning of the kitchen and dining areas before / after service.
• Ensure that Café purchases comply with budgets, and oversee day-to-day pricing of Café goods.
*Maintain records of stock levels and end-of-day financial transactions.*
Manage rosters and staffing levels subject to budgets and guidelines.
• Assist in selecting, training and supervision of kitchen and wait staff.
• Manage bookings and the planning and organising of special functions.
• Deal with customer complaints, queries with authority.
• Assist in the planning, costing, pricing and implementation of new dishes and menu changes.
• Maintain good working relationships with fellow staff and managers.
• Attend, organise and manage staff meetings
• Comply with and carry out any fair and reasonable requests by the General Manager and/or owners.
