We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Pouarahi – Health Clinician to join our team. This is a pivotal role grounded in tikanga Maori, supporting whanau experiencing distress that impacts their health and wellbeing. You'll walk alongside tangata whaiora and their whanau, delivering compassionate, evidence-informed care within a kaupapa Maori framework.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide evidence-informed assessment, therapy and treatment, tailored to meet the needs of tangata whaiora and their whanau.
- Support recovery and resilience by working from a kaupapa Maori worldview, valuing tikanga, wairuatanga, and manaakitanga in your clinical practice.
- Collaborate with general practice teams, secondary services and other health and social providers to ensure comprehensive wrap-around support.
- Carry out operational and administrative tasks, including accurate clinical documentation, outcome reporting and contributing to service improvement.
- Engage in performance reviews with professional leaders and colleagues to reflect on and enhance personal practice, ensure fidelity to the model, and contribute to ongoing service development.
- A health professional fully registered under the Health Practitioner Competence Assurance (HPCA) Act 2003; for example a psychologist, psychotherapist, mental health nurse, or occupational therapist. Or a fully registered alcohol and drug and/or gambling practitioner member of the Addiction Practitioners’ Association Aotearoa-New Zealand (Dapaanz). Or a fully registered Social Worker.
- Skill and experience providing evidence-based brief psychological interventions / talking therapies.
- A strong understanding of te ao Maori, tikanga, and a commitment to kaupapa Maori approaches to Hauora.
