About the Role
We have a fixed-term part time Advanced Clinician Speech Language Therapist-ORL available for an experienced New Zealand Registered Speech Therapist who would be keen to join our dynamic and supportive Speech Language Therapy (SLT) Service based at Auckland City Hospital. This role is part of the SLT team and would see you working fixed term, part time (32 hours /week) Monday to Friday. This role will primarily be based in outpatient ORL clinics and inpatient head and neck surgical wards:
- Proactively work with a complex caseload delivering high quality outcome focused innovative care, applying evidence-based practice, interventions and education
- Receive support to lead clinical education and quality improvement initiatives
- Work in partnership with an individual and their whanau to provide client care
- Reporting to the Clinical Lead Speech Language Therapy, this is a collaborative role well supported by the Director roles both within Allied Health and the ORL service. You would also be supported professionally, by the Professional Leader Speech Language Therapy.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Our team is made up of passionate and supportive Speech Language Therapists who are dedicated to advocating for our patients and enhancing patient outcomes within our community. The SLT team comprises 16.2 FTE, working across both inpatient and outpatient settings.

About you
As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:
- New Zealand Registered Speech Language Therapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
- 6+ years post-qualification experience, with at least 4 years working within an acute surgical, preferably head and neck cancer services.
- Experience, or an interest, in the assessment and management of voice disorders, including the use of flexible nasendoscopy and stroboscopy.
- Proven advanced skills in the use of FEES, Videofluoroscopy, and tracheostomy management.
- An understanding of bicultural issues and commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in a multidisciplinary setting
- Effective time management, flexibility, prioritisation and organisation skills
- Drive, energy and initiative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a proven track record in leading others and driving service development.
