About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Builder’s Labourer (Hammerhand) to join our foundation repair and structural remediation team. This is a hands-on role supporting experienced Carpenters and Site Supervisors in the delivery of Smartlift’s projects.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with foundation repairs, concrete and steel placement, and formwork
- Carry, set up, and operate tools, equipment, and site materials
- Perform manual excavation and trenching as required
- Ensure all health and safety documentation is signed daily (TA, SWMS, risk assessments, site registers)
- Maintain clean and safe worksites and assist in demobilisation
- Support carpenters with measurements, framing, and minor installations
- Spot for plant operators and assist in site-level communications
- Handle basic admin such as timesheets and daily paperwork
- Minimum 1.5 years’ experience in construction or similar hammer hand roles
- Good physical fitness and willingness to do manual labour
- Basic knowledge of construction site safety and compliance
- Ability to follow instructions, communicate effectively, and work in a team
- Punctual, responsible, and safety-conscious
- Candidate should have Driver license (Class 1)
- SiteSafe, ConstructSafe or other H&S certifications
- Experience with earthquake-damaged foundations or remedial repairs
- Full-time permanent employment with ongoing work in Christchurch
- Stable hourly rate of $29 per hour
- Hours: Monday to Friday - 40 hours per week
- Location: Christchurch
