The position will be focussed on:trapping, fencing, weed control and working on restoration projectsworking with species and responding to wildlife calls contract management and helping co-ordinate contractors and staff to deliver on timebound work programscollating data, data analysis and reportingcollaborating with colleagues, community, iwi and local partners to establish relationships and to share information and knowledgeproviding support to wider regional operations team as requiredWe work strongly in partnership with tangata whenua in the management of lands and taonga species and have multiple strategic partnerships in action that support and enhance the conservation work that we do.

If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you:experience in field delivery work to include pest control, threatened plants and animal populationsa critical thinker with the ability to plan and deliver on conservation programmesstrong interpersonal skills with ability to work with a range of stakeholders and build strong relationshipsflexible with the ability to work across various workstreams and adapt to changing prioritiesstrong written and verbal communication skillsa strong health and safety focusproficient in using computer-based systems, MS Office, apps and information systemsa valid driving licence.Desirable:first Aid Certificateboating experience/ skippers licencegrowsafe certificate.We're committed to developing our people and offer training to build the specialised skills needed for the role.
About the AreaMurihiku is a diverse district, home to alpine forests, lowland plains, and coastal environments. It supports a rich variety of threatened species, including the nationally endangered mohua/yellowhead, long-tailed bats, giant wētā, and rare native plants.The critically endangered New Zealand sea lion, endangered, yellow-eyed penguin, and two sub-populations of Hector's dolphin also breed and live here. Visitors can enjoy a wide range of recreational activities surrounded by this unique biodiversity.
