• Operate excavators on job sites, including digging, trenching loading and finishing to design and grade specifications.
• Lead small crews, coordinate daily tasks, communicate expectations clearly, and maintain high standards of workmanship.
• Trim and finish grading; deliver clean, accurate surface levels in preparation for landscaping, paving, or structural foundations.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company policies, ensuring a secure work environment for all employees.
• Conduct pre and post operation inspections of the excavator – report any mechanical or safety issues immediately.
• Maintain thorough equipment logs and maintenance for excavators.
• Maintain strong communication with supervisors, site managers, and team members regarding progress, issues and site conditions.
• Promote a culture of safety and operational excellence, mentoring crew members in correct safety procedures.
• Assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs on excavators to keep equipment in optimal working conditions.

• Previous experience as a leading hand or crew leader on earthmoving sites is essential.
• Demonstrated ability to trim and finish to finish levels with an excavator – precision and attention to detail is a must.
• Proven record in construction or earthmoving, operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
• WTR (Wheels, Tracks, Rollers) endorsement is a must.
• Having a class 2 and 4 drivers license is an advantage.
• Clean driving record with no major traffic violations.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage small teams.
• Reliable and punctual with strong work ethic.
• Physical fitness and the ability to assist with routine maintenance and minor repairs when required.
