About the opportunity | He kupu mo matou

Established in 1985, our Eltham Collingwood Street site in the heart of Taranaki which produces over 65,000 tonne per year of cheese products for FMCG markets here in New Zealand and abroad. It is the largest consumer and foodservice cheese manufacturing plant in the Asia Pacific region.

Joining our Maintenance Team as an Electrical Technician you’ll be a key member of our multi-disciplined team where you’ll be part of a shift crew who are responsible for electrical breakdown services and planned maintenance.

Focusing on health and safety and electrical maintenance best practice, you’ll utilise your sound industrial electrical knowledge to provide frontline electrical support to our production teams and will use sound problem-solving skills to fault find and repair breakdowns with confidence on our automated and high speed manufacturing packing and utilities equipment.

Other areas of focus may include instrumentation services for the site and maintenance of PLC equipment, motors and control loops.

This is a rostered shift pattern of two days, two nights and four days off.

The key to success in this role will be your passion for problem solving and fault finding. You’ll need to remain calm under pressure when responding to unplanned breakdowns and have excellent attention to detail.

With your forward-thinking drive and ability to achieve results you’ll have plenty of scope to drive continuous improvement on equipment with some of our industry's cutting edge automated technology. Exceptional communication skills will see you work collaboratively with teams across the site.

Other skills include:

  • Exposure to a fast paced automated manufacturing environment
  • Experience in industrial electrical maintenance functions such as equipment repair, failure analysis to root cause and preventative maintenance.
  • A New Zealand Electrical Registration with a current practicing license.
  • Computer literacy and experience with a CMMS system
  • Experience from within the food or dairy industry would be beneficial.
  • Experience with PLC automations systems and/or instrumentation also advantageous
