About the Role
Radiology is seeking a dedicated Health Care Assistant to work across all radiology satellite sites, with a primary base in Puawananga/Orthopaedic outpatient x-ray rooms. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic healthcare team, ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient radiology services.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the Radiology Scheduling System (RIS), monitoring ordered (not yet scheduled) work lists, scheduling outpatients, and tracking patient arrivals. You will also play a crucial part in managing patient workflow, preparing patients for imaging, assisting less mobile patients, restocking equipment and linen, and maintaining a tidy work environment.
You will work closely with Medical Imaging Technologists (Radiographers) and liaise with referring teams, clinics, and the main radiology department to ensure smooth service delivery.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Radiology Department at Hawke's Bay Hospital provides a wide range of diagnostic and interventional imaging services, including general X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy. Our team is made up of radiologists, medical imaging technologists, nurses, and HCAs who work together in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
You will be working alongside experienced and supportive colleagues, contributing to high-quality imaging services that support timely diagnosis and treatment for our patients.

About you

You will bring:
- Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant or similar role (preferred but not essential)
- A genuine interest in patient care and healthcare services
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- A strong commitment to infection control and health and safety practices
- Flexibility and a willingness to learn on the job
Training and support will be provided for the right candidate.
