Minimum Guaranteed Hours: 35 hours per week
Wage Rate: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour (depending on experience and skill level)
Location: Various client sites across the Auckland region

Roster: Monday to Sunday, rotating roster, between 7:00 am and 9:00 pm

About the Role

Multitool Construction Limited is currently seeking three experienced Telecommunications Technicians to join our expanding field service team. This hands-on role involves installing, configuring, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of telecommunications equipment and devices — including telephones, network terminals, data transmission systems, and customer-premises hardware — across commercial, industrial, and residential sites in Auckland.

We are looking for technically skilled professionals who can work independently or in a team environment, are safety-conscious, and possess strong fault-resolution and communication skills. You must be prepared to work in a variety of environments, including underground, at heights, and in confined spaces, as required by project needs.

Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair telecommunications equipment such as telephones, modems, switches, routers, data transmission systems, and Wi-Fi access points
Install structured cabling systems, patch panels, outlets, and coaxial and fibre-optic cable runs
Diagnose and rectify faults in telecommunications systems using tools such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and signal testers
Program and configure telecommunications devices and customer equipment (e.g., ONTs, routers, switches)
Conduct site assessments, interpret wiring schematics and layout diagrams
Attach wires and cables to appliances, ensuring all connections meet industry safety and quality standards
Perform software upgrades, network testing, and system commissioning
Maintain accurate documentation for installation work, service tickets, and fault resolution
Comply with all health and safety protocols

Liaise professionally with clients and provide effective technical support on-site

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience as a Telecommunications Technician or similar role; OR A relevant New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF) Level 4 qualification in Telecommunications, communications or Networking.
Familiarity with structured cabling, fault-testing instruments, and technical diagrams
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve telecom issues independently
Site Safe Passport (or willing to obtain before commencement)
First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain before commencement)
Working at Heights Certification (WTC Levels 3 & 4) (or willing to obtain before commencement)
Full driver's licence (Class 1) or equivalent unrestricted licence
Strong understanding of safety standards and worksite best practices
Clean Police record.

Drug and Alcohol tests will be carried out on the successful candidate before starting employment.
