We are looking for a compassionate,community-minded Youth Mental Health Assistant (YMHA) to join our dedicatedteam.About the RoleAs a Youth Mental Health Assistant, you
- ll work alongside a multidisciplinaryhealth care team under the direction of a Registered Nurse or other RegisteredHealth Professional.
- ll help reduce the pressure on clinical staff by takingon delegated tasks such as:Supporting case managers in managing youth safely and effectively.Transporting consumers to appointments and activities.Delivering prescriptions to pharmacies.Assisting youth to engage in meaningful activities.Participating in joint community visits with case managers.Key ResponsibilitiesContribute to a high-quality, safe, and supportive care environment.Identify and report health and safety concerns in a timely manner.Take an active role in quality improvement initiatives.Support the principles and articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all aspects of your work.Participate in professional development, including Whāraurau learning modules and mandatory training.About YouYou

- ll be willing to learn and grow in the mentalhealth field and work collaboratively as part of a team.To be successful, you will have:A NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Mental Health and Addiction Support) Level 3, or be willing to complete it within 12 months of employment.Relevant experience working in mental health or community support roles (preferred).Good computer literacy or willingness to learn new systems.Personal safety training (or willingness to complete).A strong understanding of youth needs and the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities.A strong understanding and appreciation of the importance for Tangata Whaiora of connections to marae, iwi and hapu.Working at HealthNew ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Orais dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
