Property Assessor - Auckland, Wellington, Christchurchat Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities - - Ashburton
- Our opportunity As one of our new Property Assessors based in either Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch, you'll be supporting the delivery of warm, dry, and safe homes across New Zealand.
- Property Assessment, this hands-on role is responsible for conducting residential property assessments, identifying condition-based issues, completing minor maintenance tasks, and ensuring compliance with health, safety and building code standards.
Working independently across your region, you'll draw on your experience in construction or maintenance to assess the condition of our homes, engage effectively with tenants, and contribute reliable property data that informs asset decisions.
This role blends technical skill with strong relationship management, making it ideal for those with a practical background and a customer-focused approach.With increasing demand, the work is fast-paced and high volume, and offers opportunities to work autonomously, travel, and contribute meaningfully to public housing outcomes.
In this role you'll be responsible for managing your own daily schedule and working directly with tenants in their homes.
This is a hands-on, practical position which will see you carrying out minor maintenance works such as servicing heat pumps as well as completing formal assessments for more significant maintenance repairs.
You'll be able to speak both the building and construction language, as well as communicating effectively and respectfully with our tenants to get the job done.
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu- What you will bring If you have on-the-tools experience in a residential construction or maintenance role coupled with a friendly and calming customer-focused approach, then we would like to hear from you.
Alternatively, you will have relevant experience within the building maintenance sector Ideally, a Diploma (Level 6) in Building Control Surveying and / or a recognised qualification in the building design and / or construction (Advanced Trade Certificate, NZCB, NZCD or equivalent) A minimum of 2 years of experience in building construction, maintenance or an inspections role Demonstrated people skills to achieve outcomes and sound customer approach when in homes Good building technical knowledge, application, and awareness Strong relevant legislative knowledge, application, and understanding A full New Zealand Driver's Licence Nōu te rourou
