Making Water Safer

With branches across Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, FILTEC proudly leads New Zealand’s water treatment sector. For more than 30 years, we have designed, built, and serviced hundreds of treatment plants across the country. As regulatory change accelerates and new technologies reshape the industry, there has never been a better time to join a team that is growing quickly and setting new standards in water quality and safety.

We are expanding our UV service capability and are seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to join our dedicated UV team. This role supports a wide range of municipal and industrial clients, including work on some of the largest UV treatment assets in New Zealand.

About the Role

Based in Auckland, this specialist role focuses on the servicing, maintenance, and technical support of UV disinfection systems across multiple sites. You will work alongside experienced UV technicians as you come up to speed, with structured training and ongoing support provided by FILTEC.

Over time, you will develop deep technical expertise in advanced UV disinfection systems and take increasing ownership of planned and reactive maintenance activities.
The role involves regular travel across Auckland and the wider region. From time to time, you may also be required to travel nationally to support FILTEC service projects as operational needs arise.

You must be comfortable working autonomously once trained and confident operating safely in a range of treatment plant and industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, repairs, and inspections on UV disinfection systems across municipal and industrial sites.
  • Support day to day maintenance activities on large scale UV treatment assets.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, isolation, testing, and control system diagnostics.
  • Complete routine preventive maintenance, lamp replacement programmes, cleaning system checks, and performance verification tasks.
  • Assist with commissioning activities, system upgrades, and electrical integration tasks as required.
  • Work collaboratively with FILTEC’s UV team, site operators, and other stakeholders to ensure safe and reliable operation of critical assets.
  • Maintain clear and accurate service reports, parts requirements, and system documentation.
  • Follow strict HSQE procedures including lock out tag out, UV safety practices, electrical safety standards, and site specific protocols.
What You Will Bring
  • New Zealand Registered Industrial Electrician with a current EWRB practising licence.
  • Experience with industrial maintenance, electrical plant, automation, or instrumentation.
  • Strong diagnostic ability and confidence working with control panels, PLC interfaces, electrical isolation, and safety systems.
  • A positive attitude toward learning specialist UV technology. Full training is provided.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with customers.
  • A valid NZ driver licence and a clean driving record.
Why Join FILTEC
  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Comprehensive technical training and ongoing development.
  • Company vehicle and tools provided.
  • Supportive team environment with opportunities for long term growth.
  • Exposure to some of New Zealand’s most advanced water and wastewater treatment assets.
  • Access to EAP for health and wellbeing support.
