The Role
We need someone who can sell. Not in a pushy, used-car way, but someone who can build genuine relationships and turn those relationships into recurring sales. Someone who believes our spirits are worth sharing.There are 1,000+ bottle stores and online retailers out there, plus thousands of restaurants and bars. We're stocked in a fraction of these. It's time to build on this, but we're distillers, not salespeople. That's where you come in.
About Us
5 Mile Distilling is Taupo's first and currently only distillery. We make award-winning spirits, but that's not why we exist. We exist to help Taupo prosper. Spirits are just the vehicle.Every bottle we sell supports local causes: Greening Taupo, Lake Taupo Hospice, Taupo RSA, and Bellyful Taupo. People, Planet, profit. In that order. profit is a result, not a goal.
What you'll do:Off-premise (bottle stores and online retailers):
- Build and maintain relationships with store owners and managers, locally and nationally
- Support existing stockists so they actually reorder
- Coordinate in-store tastings, either running them yourself locally or arranging local representatives for out-of-town stores
- Get us into new stores
- Build relationships with venues and get them ordering through their wholesalers or directly from us
- Support venues once they're stocking us
- You share our values: People, Planet, profit.
- Taupo local. Already living here.
- Sales ability. You can close.
- Experience in spirits, alcohol, or FMCG is a bonus.
- Duty Manager's Certificate is helpful. We'll organise and pay for it if needed.
- We'll teach you our story, our spirits, and how they're made including getting hands-on with distilling, bottling, and packaging at the start so you know what you're selling.
- Driver's licence and reliable vehicle.
Hours & Pay
Part time to start, with potential to become full time as we grow. Base starts at living wage, plus commission on all sales you generate. Staff discount on spirits, because great spirits are worth sharing with friends and family.
