Ecological Restoration Team Member
Rotorua
Wildlands are seeking an Ecological Restoration Field Team Member to work fulltime, fixed term for a period of 4 months, from May 2026 to end of August 2026, to assist our Rotorua Branch.
The hourly rate range is $26.00 – 27.80, depending on experience brought upon starting, with the potential for a further increase when the core competencies of the role are met.
The role is to undertake ecological restoration work which includes pest plant control, planting and pest animal control.
It is essential that you have a willingness to contribute and work in a team, are physically fit, and have a passion for working outdoors in all sorts of weather. The work involves the use of agrichemicals (herbicides), animal toxins (poisons), and handling carcasses throughtraps trapping on a regular basis.Some work may involve staying away in remote areas in basic accommodation.

- Full NZ drivers’ licence (preferred)
On the job training and mentoring will be provided, including:
- Agrichemical handling (mixing and application)
- Pest plant control methods
- Pest animal control methods
- Plant identification
- Planting
- Handheld GPS use
- Use and maintenance of hand tools/machinery
Additional formal training will be provided as appropriate, and may include:
- Growsafe
- Controlled substance licence
- Chainsaw
- 4WD
- LUV/Quad bike
