IJ Hospitality Limited is seeking a skilled Venue Manager to join its team in New Plymouth. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational and leadership skills, with experience in bar operations, team management, and creating memorable experiences for guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all aspects of bar operations, including maintaining a current liquor license, managing inventory, negotiating supplier contracts, and controlling budgets to achieve financial targets.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage operational budgets, pricing strategies, and cost controls to optimize profitability and drive revenue growth.
  • Recruit, train, and manage staff to deliver exceptional service and create a positive team culture.
  • Planning, booking and supervising gaming, sporting and entertainment events.
  • Prepare staff schedules and resolve conflicts efficiently to ensure the bar is well-staffed during peak hours.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and compliance with all relevant legislation, including alcohol sales and health & safety regulations.
  • Foster a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for patrons.
  • Engage with customers, providing excellent service, taking orders, and ensuring memorable experiences.
  • Maximise sales opportunities through food and beverage offerings while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure cost-effective, high-quality inventory management.
  • Act as a brand ambassador, ensuring the bar reflects the company’s values, vision, and commitment to service excellence.

The candidate will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and will be paid between $30 and $35 per hour.

Requirements:
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience or at least a relevant Level-5 qualifications.
  • A License Controller Qualification (LCQ) is required.
  • Availability to work weekends and late evening shifts.
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Reliable, organised, and committed to maintaining high service standards.
