  • Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Pukenga
  • Lecturer to join the growing Educational Psychology team within Te Whanau o Ako Pai
  • School of Education.

This position will commence as soon as possible.

Key responsibilities:
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses within the Educational Psychology Programme.
  • Seek external research funding.
  • Recruit and supervise Masters and PhD students in research topics related to their area of specialisation.
  • Contribute Haututanga/leadership to the profession, University, Faculty and School.
  • Engage in scholarly and administrative services.

**O pumanawa - About you**

The successful candidate will have relevant academic qualifications, training, and experience in educational psychology or applied psychology (e.g., school psychology, counselling psychology, clinical or community psychology) with a focus on assessment and the provision of educational, social, emotional and behavioural interventions/supports to children and adolescents with, or at-risk of, learning difficulties or mental health concerns.

Key requirements:
  • Completed (or be close to completing) PhD in an applied field of Psychology.
  • Experience and specialisation in applied research related to issues affecting child and adolescent development and learning, educational assessment; educational, social, emotional, and behavioural interventions/support and/or child and adolescent well-being and mental health.
  • Registration (or eligibility for registration) with the New Zealand Psychologists Board or New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC).
  • Effectively engage, teach and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students from different backgrounds. "
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially in a team.
  • Contribute effectively to the administration of the programme.
  • Provide evidence of a commitment to our obligations to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in an academic and professional context.
  • Experience in and knowledge of culturally sustaining and appropriate practices in an applied psychology field.
