We are seeking an enthusiastic RN to join our Ophthalmology team during an exciting period of service development. This role includes replacing a highly valued Nurse injector, and we welcome applicants who are already credentialed injectors or motivated RNs willing to undertake extended practice training to become one.Our hospital provides essential healthcare services to a diverse and welcoming community.

You will join an inclusive team dedicated to delivering excellent outcomes while enjoying the stunning natural beauty and relaxed lifestyle our region offers.About the Role: As an Ophthalmology Registered Nurse, you'll work alongside experienced specialists, Rn's and Allied Health colleagues to provide high-quality care to patients of all ages.
You will contribute to both clinical and procedural aspects of the service, with the opportunity to either continue as a nurse injector or progress into this extended scope role with full training and support. Your responsibilities will include:Performing pre-operative assessments, assisting with minor surgical procedures, and providing post-operative care.Undertake specific ophthalmology testing (e.g., OCT, visual fields, biometry).Deliver patient and whanau education regarding eye conditions, treatments, and ongoing care.Managing patient care plans in collaboration with the wider medical team.Operating, trouble shooting and maintaining ophthalmic equipment.Supporting eye health promotion through education and prevention.Providing intravitreal injections (if already trained) or undertaking structured extended practice training to achieve injector competency.What we're Looking For:We would love to hear from you if you have:A current APC with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.Experience in ophthalmology or a related field is highly desirable, though training will be provided.Credentialing as a Nurse Injector, or a strong commitment to undertake extended practice training to become one.Compassionate, excellent communication skills and a patient-centred approach.Strong critical thinking, sound clinical judgement, and excellent time management.A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.Flexibility, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to care delivery.Why Join Us?The chance to continue or become a nurse injector with training, supervision and ongoing competency support.
