Finance Business Partner

We are partnering with a Wellington‑based public sector organisation to recruit an experienced Senior Accountant to join their Finance team on a permanent basis. This is a high‑impact role where you’ll work closely with senior leaders, providing trusted financial advice that supports strong decision‑making within a complex, purpose‑driven environment.
This organisation plays a critical role in supporting national infrastructure and safety outcomes and values professionalism, collaboration, integrity, and transparency.
About the role
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic financial advice and sound financial leadership
- Leading annual budgeting, forecasting, and reforecasting processes
- Preparing insightful monthly management reporting and variance analysis
- Supporting investment planning, pricing, funding, and Cabinet‑related processes
- Contributing to statutory and accountability documents, including the Annual Report and Statement of Intent
- Partnering with external stakeholders such as central agencies and auditors
- Driving continuous improvement across financial systems, controls, and processes
About you
You will bring:
- CA ANZ‑recognised Chartered Accountant qualification
- Strong technical accounting expertise within service‑based or complex organisations
- Experience partnering with and influencing senior stakeholders
- Excellent analytical, planning, and problem‑solving skills
- Strong Excel capability and confidence working across financial systems
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
