Christchurch - Furniture Maker / Cabinet Maker

Gavin Cox Furniture is a small, quality furniture maker and retailer who specialise in making solid timber furniture from new and recycled timber.

Not only will you be making quality Solid Timber Furniture but could also be making Stairs, Benchtops and some Solid Timber Joinery so no week will be the same as the next.

• Make mainly custom made and traditional furniture and some joinery items to a high quality standard
• You will work from start to finish on jobs so must be able read plans, write up a cutting list and to select and colour match solid timbers, machine and join panels, tops, cut to size and shape, sand to a high standard and assemble and finish ready for polishing / oiling by others
• Work on designs with Tim as well as with clients and other designers
• Be self motivated, able to work independently with great attention to detail
• Have preferably 3 years experience in Furniture Making / Cabinet Making. Joinery experience would also be a bonus
• Be able to use general woodworking machinery such as Buzzer, Thicknesser, Panel Saw, Wide Belt Sander, Bandsaw, Multi borer etc and all hand tools necessary to make Solid Timber Furniture. Experience in cnc machinery would also be an advantage.
• Speak fluent English
• Must be tidy and reliable and have a positive attitude
