You will be working across acute and inpatient spaces and will form strong ties to community and primary care providers.Training is at the forefront of this position.
The Hospital is home to the Rural Health Academic centre and here you will find a dedicated simulation centre containing HighFidelity Simulation mannequins (Adult, child, baby).

Ashburton Hospital is the largest Secondary Hospital in New Zealand and is accredited with the Division of Rural Health Medicine (DRHMNZ) for registrar training.Working at Ashburton Hospital will provide you with invaluable experience in rural medicine.

A number of our Rural Health Medical Specialists (RHMS) hold University appointments and are certified APLS and/or EMST instructors.
Our RHMS- are happy to be guided by your learning needs and stage of training in their supervision practice allowing increasing autonomy in patient management for those nearing the end of their training programme.Ashburton is a great town to live in.
