Tian Tian Tour Limited is seeking a dedicated Travel Consultant (New Zealand OP Operator) to join our Queenstown team. Help us deliver exceptional travel experiences to our Chinese-speaking clients while promoting cultural exchange and creating lasting memories.
Job ResponsibilitiesAs a Travel Consultant, you will:
Market Development: Identify new market opportunities to boost brand awareness and attract customers.
Vehicle Dispatch and Guide Arrangement: Coordinate vehicles and guides to ensure seamless travel itineraries.
Itinerary Planning and Coordination: Arrange travel activities, including hotel bookings, itinerary planning, and meal logistics.
Emergency Handling: Respond flexibly to weather, traffic, or other emergencies to ensure trip safety and continuity.
Cultural Commentary: Share engaging insights into New Zealand’s history, culture, geography, and attractions to enrich the visitor experience.
Training and Guidance: Provide training and support to guides, enhancing team professionalism.
Visitor Interaction: Use dynamic language and methods to captivate visitors, adding fun and educational value.
Q&A Support: Answer visitors’ questions to deepen their understanding of destinations.
Job RequirementsTo succeed in this role, you’ll need:
Qualifications and Experience: Diploma or bachelor’s degree in areas like tourism, management, marketing, or sales is required. If no or low qualification, a minimum of 2 years of experience in the tourism industry, ideally as an OP operator, tour leader, or similar role, is required to be considered for the role.
Crisis Management: Strong crisis management and public relations skills to handle unexpected situations.Soft Skills: Excellent adaptability, communication, organizational, and planning abilities.
Market Development: Previous experience in market development is preferred but not essential.
Language Proficiency: Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) to communicate effectively with clients and guides.
Key Terms and Conditions
Pay Rate: $25.00–$30.00 per hour (NZD, gross), based on experience and skills. Earnings are fully guaranteed with no reliance on commissions, piece rates, or bonuses.
Minimum Hours: Guaranteed 40 hours per week, full-time.
Working Hours: Flexible scheduling, including weekends, evenings, and potential overnight stays in different cities, based on itinerary needs. Rosters provided 7 days in advance.Location: Primary workplace is Queenstown-Lakes, Otago, with travel across South Island locations as required (travel expenses reimbursed per company policy).
Contract Type: Permanent, tied to seasonal tourism demands, starting June 2025.
