Excavator/Tractor General

Sisam & Sons Limited is a 4750ha property, situated 18 km south of Whakatane, in the Bay of Plenty. The farm comprises two Sheep and Beef blocks, four Dairy units and production Forestry.

We are recruiting for a full time Excavator/Tractor General to carry out farm maintenance, seasonal tractor work and other associated tasks. In this role you will need to be hardworking and motivated, willing to get stuck in and lead a team.

Whilst reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Managing the current maintenance team.
• Leading and implementing the maintenance plan across the different business units. This will include upkeep, repair and replacement of dairy races; farm/forestry tracks; culverts; drains, and water systems using our 10T excavator and modern tractors.
• Organising and realising the cropping program across all business units.
• Tractor work will include silage/hay mowing, fertiliser spreading, cultivation/seeding & carting.
• Maintaining farm machinery.

• Excavator experience in a rural environment.
• A full, clean New Zealand Driving License
• Proven leadership skills, and the ability to organise a team to complete seasonal operations to deadline.
• Be motivated and willing to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Possess good communication skills.
• Have a positive attitude towards health and safety, environmental compliance, animal welfare and employment obligations.
• Reliable transportation as this is a drive-in position.
• Previous tractor experience hill country driving experience is preferred, but not essential.
• A reasonable level of fencing and water reticulation knowledge would be helpful but is not required.
