An apprenticeship is the beginning of a career as a qualified professional and as Training Manager you're there to help! You will encourage, empower and assess our building and construction industry apprentices throughout the Southland region, helping them to progress their skills and training.
This position is all about informing, mentoring and supporting apprentices and employers across the building and construction industries. You'll be actively promoting apprenticeship training in the Southland area and you'll work closely with apprentices and employers to ensure the successful registration and completion of apprenticeships.
You will also play an important liaison role with secondary schools, trades academies, and institutes of technologies building relationships and promoting apprenticeships as viable career paths.

Great people skills go without saying as does being able to build a rapport with people from all walks of life.
Actively promoting the advantages of the group training concept to employers in the workplace is essential, therefore having a carpentry qualification and local industry knowledge is important.
You are a person who derives a sense of achievement from encouraging and enabling more people to become involved in apprenticeship training. Being self motivated, knowledgeable, and taking pride in your work is a must.
To be a success, you'll be a skilled mentor able to tailor your approach to get the best out of apprentices, be self-motivated, IT savvy, well organised, and have successfully completed your own a carpentry apprenticeship with the life experience to back it up being essential.
This role is full time and based in Invercargill.
