He angitutanga / The opportunity:

As a Sous Chef at Strata Lounge, you'll play a pivotal role in preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality food while ensuring compliance with food safety and health regulations. You'll also supervise the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence and contribute to menu development and event catering.

This is a permanent full time position rostered across 7 days of the week. Shifts are Afternoon/Evening.

Ko o kawenga / Your responsibilities:

  • Supervise kitchen operations and staff when the Head Chef is unavailable.
  • Prepare, cook, and present meals to high standards, including buffet and event catering.
  • Manage stock control, ordering, and storage of kitchen supplies.
  • Maintain hygiene, safety, and cleanliness across all kitchen areas.
  • Develop menus that meet diverse dietary and cultural needs.

He korero mou / About you:

  • Hold an NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Cookery (or equivalent) with experience in a similar environment.
  • Proven ability to supervise and coach kitchen staff effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and a flexible, team-oriented mindset.
  • Physically fit, reliable, and committed to maintaining high hygiene standards.
  • Able to work under pressure while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
