Assistant Ink Technician

Our client is one of NZ’s leader manufacturers of cardboard and packaging and is looking for an Assistant Ink Technician to join their team.

This is a fast-paced environment, and it will require you to be standing for long periods of time. Full-time opportunity available with training provided.

Position Summary

We are seeking an organised and reliable Ink Technician Assistant to support the Ink Technician and production team in the preparation, handling, and delivery of inks used in our printing processes. This role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn the technical skills of ink mixing, colour matching, and print production support.

Shift: 11:00AM - 7:30PM
Training Hours: 7:00AM - 3:30PM for 5 weeks

Rate: Negotiable depending on experience

Assistant Ink Tech Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Ink Technician with preparing and mixing inks according to formulas and specifications.
  • Measure, label, and organise raw materials, bases, and finished inks.
  • Deliver inks to production machines and return unused inks for storage or recycling.
  • Clean mixing equipment, tools, and ink containers to maintain a safe, tidy ink room.
  • Maintain accurate records of ink usage, adjustments, and stock levels.
  • Monitor inventory and alert the Ink Technician when supplies need reordering.
  • Safely handle chemicals, solvents, and inks in accordance with company safety guidelines.
  • Support press operators with ink changes and refills during production runs.

Required Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and good colour vision.
  • Basic math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Physically fit – able to lift and carry ink containers.
  • Previous experience in printing, packaging, or manufacturing (preferred but not essential).
