Chinese Cook

Nanking Palace Restaurant was founded in 1963. We are Dunedin’s longest standing traditional Chinese restaurant. We are looking for 1-2 full-time Cooks to join us. We require you to be a positive and ambitious candidate who can handle responsibility with ease whilst remaining focused and in control in a fast-paced environment.

• Job Title: Chinese Cook
• Employment Type: Permanent & Full-time
• Days required: Monday to Sunday on roster
• Hours per week: guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours a week, a maximum of 40 hours a week.
• Wage: $28-33 per hour
• Number of Vacancies: 2 positions

• Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment
• Measures, cleans, chops, blends, seasons, heats and cools food
• Inspects and selects ingredients for cooking
• Ensure preparation is done on time and to the highest standard
• Cooking of various dishes
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and properly and monitor the inventory of food supplies
• Any other tasks at the direction of the Director which conform to the spirit of the Employee’s Employment Agreement.

At least 24 months of relevant work experience (this can include experience as a kitchen hand, assistant cook, or other kitchen-related roles)
