The purpose of this role is to develop and maintain public health emergency management through collaboration and coordination across NPHS and other stakeholders involved in readiness and response.This role is key to supporting public health emergency management for the health and disability system and providing assurance to our partners and governance structure on the state of readiness across the system.

It acknowledges that there are two distinct modes of operation; a business-as-usual component and a response component to rapidly and effectively respond to the unfolding needs of an event.The successful candidate for this role would need to be based in the Te Waipounamu region.About the Team/Service/ LocationThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention.

You believe providing leadership that inspires and guides the team through challenging times and is dedicated to ensuring that the goals at hand make a positive impact both nationally and regionally.Skills and ExperienceKnowledge of Emergency Management legislation, regulations and standards in NZExtensive experience in Emergency Management, which can be adapted to contribute to the reduction and management of public health incidents and emergenciesKnowledge of the health system, risk management, and managing at the political interfaceAble to establish and maintain positive working relationships with people at all levels within the public and private sectors, related industry and community interest groupsTertiary qualification in a health or relevant field and/or equivalent experienceWith the support of Health NZ, you will proactively take care of your own health and safety, to ensure a safe and supportive work environmentWorking for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
