Foleys is one of New Zealand’s largest plumbing, drainage, electrical, and mechanical services companies, with a proud 90-year history and branches throughout the South Island and lower North Island. Our Christchurch team is growing, and we’re now looking for an experienced Drainage Foreman to take on a key leadership role within our Service & Drainage division.
About the Role
As a Drainage Foreman, you’ll play a vital part in the delivery of high-quality drainage projects across Christchurch. You’ll work closely with the Christchurch Service & Drainage Manager to lead site teams, drive efficiencies, and ensure work is delivered safely, professionally, and to the highest standard.
This role suits someone who enjoys both hands-on work and developing others — you’ll step into a position where your technical expertise and leadership really make an impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
Leadership & Site ManagementOversee day-to-day site operations, including staff coordination, quality checks, and site handovers
Provide technical direction, troubleshooting support, and positive supervision to tradespeople and apprentices
Drive efficiencies through forward planning, ordering of materials, and thorough understanding of project scope
Attend site meetings and liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers
Trade Responsibilities
Carry out drainage work to a high standard in line with regulations, codes of practice, and Foleys expectations
Maintain strong compliance standards and actively participate in ongoing training and upskilling
Support call-out roster when required
Health, Safety & Culture
Support strong H&S practices and uphold a safe working environment
Maintain a positive workplace culture aligned with Foleys’ TREE values
Communicate key staffing and operational information to the Drainage Manager
Vehicle & Equipment
Maintain a tidy, organised, and well-stocked work vehicle
Ensure all equipment is safely secured and regularly checked
What We’re Looking For
Certifying Drainlayer (PGDB) with a current practising licence3+ years’ experience in a similar foreman or senior drainage role
Excellent understanding of drainage requirements and building code
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Class 2 licence preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Fit, reliable, professional, and able to juggle multiple priorities
Comfortable using technology and learning new systems
