Ampersand Eatery is a vibrant all-day dining destination located in Orakei Bay Village, Auckland. Open seven days a week, we offer specialty coffee, brunch, lunch, dinner, private functions, and event services in a stunning waterfront setting.

Our focus is on exceptional food, outstanding customer experiences, and warm hospitality.

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Cafe Manager to lead our front-of-house operations and support the continued growth of our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the café and restaurant to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and maintain high standards of hospitality and service delivery.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and coordinate front-of-house staff.
  • Prepare staff rosters and oversee labour allocation to meet operational requirements.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate purchasing of beverages, food supplies, and operational materials.
  • Liaise with suppliers and service providers to ensure quality and cost-effective purchasing.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of marketing initiatives, promotions, and special events.
  • Support the planning and coordination of functions, private events, and catering services.
  • Monitor sales performance, budgets, and operating costs to maximise profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, liquor licensing requirements, health and safety standards, and company policies.
  • Prepare operational reports and maintain accurate business records.
  • Work closely with the owners and senior management team to identify opportunities for business growth and operational improvement.
Candidate Requirements
  • At least 2 years of relevant management experience in a café, restaurant, or hospitality environment; or
  • A Level 5 or higher qualification in Business, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and staff management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Sound knowledge of hospitality operations, customer service, stock control, and cost management.
  • Experience coordinating functions, events, or catering services would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and evening shifts as required.

  • Competitive hourly rate of $28.00 – $35.00 depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Minimum 30 hours of guaranteed work per week.
