Concrete R&D Specialist - Hamilton
The role will coordinate and schedule the trial mix and test programme both in the laboratory and production to investigate the impact and performance of alternative materials and binders and verify compliance to NZ and International standards.
**Key Responsibilities**- Schedule and prepare laboratory and production trial and test programme.
- Source raw material samples needed for the trial initiatives identified.
- Lead and carry out laboratory scale trial mixes, associated testing, collation of results and prepare reports.
- Document trial procedures, establish and maintain procedures in line with industry standards. Collaborate with the Pokeno Lab Team to learn best practices.
- Perform and monitor routine concrete checks and tests including those to determine plastic and hardened properties, surface finish, durability, etc. Reinforcing steel checks include those to determine tensile strength, ultimate yield, ductility, etc).
- Present results and reports to relevant stakeholders of trials so that the results can be used for decision making purposes.
- Suggest and implement improvements to trial processes to increase quality of results and/or efficiency
- A Science, Materials Science or Engineering tertiary qualification.
- At least 3 years' experience in a testing or laboratory setting, including the writing of reports.
- Experience working independently and following testing procedures.
- Experience with construction materials and concrete is preferred.
- Experience in concrete technology and mix design processes and principles
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as a team alongside fellow technicians, plant operators, and site supervisors
- Technical aptitude, solutions and results driven, attention to detail and quality focused.
