- Study plans and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, and construction requirements.
- Order and select timber and materials, and prepare site layouts accordingly
- Cut, shape, and assemble structural components, ensuring accuracy and high-quality finishes
- Erect framing for floors, walls, and roofs; verify alignment and structural integrity
- Install exterior cladding, fascia, windows, and door frames with attention to detail
- Construct and fit timber structures and joinery items for installation
- At least 3 years of proven carpentry experience, ideally in residential construction
- Trade qualification (NZ Certificate in Carpentry Level 4 or equivalent overseas qualification) preferred
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and technical specifications
- Excellent workmanship and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Physically fit, reliable, and safety conscious
- A full driver’s licence is an advantage
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate day-to-day site operations across multiple projects to ensure timelines and quality standards are met
- Review technical documentation, plans, and specifications to guide construction activities
- Oversee ordering, delivery, and efficient use of materials, plant, and equipment
- Act as the key liaison between clients, consultants, subcontractors, and construction teams
- Track and report on progress, budgets, timelines, and health and safety performance through in house software
- Support contract administration, including reviewing tender documentation and managing variations
- Ensure all work complies with relevant building codes, standards, and local authority requirements
- Arrange and follow up on inspections and approvals at different stages of the build
- Provide leadership to teams on-site, setting clear expectations and ensuring high standards of workmanship
- Adapt to project changes and contribute to successful delivery through effective planning and communication
- Align on-site activities with broader project milestones and company objectives
- 5+ years of experience in construction, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or site management role
- Relevant trade or tertiary qualification in building, construction management, or experience in the field
- Confident interpreting technical drawings and construction documentation
- Strong understanding of NZ building codes, workplace health and safety requirements, and industry best practice
- Skilled at leading teams, solving problems on-site, and communicating with a wide range of stakeholders
- Comfortable using project management tools and systems
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused
