Bakery Manager

Our stunning store, in the heart of the magical Mangawhai community, has been operating since October 2022.

With grocery, butchery, seafood, deli, bakery, produce, liquor, chilled and frozen, online and checkout departments in a beautiful new store, we are bringing a new era of shopping to our wonderful customers.

We are currently seeking a qualified or equally experienced Bakery Manager to be part of the amazing team at New World Mangawhai! You must have bakery experience with breads preferred.

This is a busy department and maintaining all Food Safety and Health and Safety standards every day is required.

• End to end ownership & management of the department including buying, price integrity, rostering, Food Safety, Health & Safety, stock management
• Ensure the department meets the highest standards, is fresh and displayed attractively for our customers
• Lead and inspire a team of bakery assistants who are dedicated and strive to excel at consistently delivering high standards
• Listen to customers to find out what they want and need in one simple shop
• Search constantly for areas to improve our operations, productivity, and efficiency
• Deliver on financial performance targets including budgets, wage percentages and sales forecasting
• Ensure all customer special orders are prepared to agreed timeframes
• Through attention to detail, ensure high presentation standards for the bakery department & store at all times
• This is a physical operational role, therefore, it is essential to be physically fit with the ability to lift 20kgs on a regular basis throughout the day

What are we looking for:

• Must be qualified or have equivalent years of experience in a bakery bread production
• Must have bakery supervisor or management experience, preferably in a supermarket
• A passion and contagious enthusiasm for baking
• Reliable, honest and be a good team player
• Attention to detail, presentation and commitment to quality
• An excellent work ethic is essential
• Strong commitment to Food Safety and Health and Safety and following our system
• Great people skills and ability to lead a small team
• Sound computer literacy and keen to learn and use the latest technology
• Reliable, self-motivated and be a good team player
